Josephus Daniels

Josephus Daniels (1862 – 1948) was editor and publisher of the News and Observer in Raleigh, North Carolina. Woodrow Wilson’s administration appointed him Secretary of the Navy in 1913 and he served until 1921, leading the Navy through World War I. He later served as ambassador to Mexico from 1933 to 1942.
