Tiffany Briere

Biography

Tiffany Briere has received awards from the Rona Jaffe Foundation and Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference. She holds a Ph.D. in genetics from Yale University and an MFA in fiction from Bennington College. Her work has appeared in Tin House.

Soucouyant

The mouse before me is dead, its body emptied of organs. Dead but still innervated, so still blinking in this world. I only harvest from their core—heart, lungs, liver, and the rest—but soon I will have to work with their brains.
